Weekend Away at Inter-varsities

Seven of the clubs members braved the 4 hour journey to Letterfrack in Galway for the annual Inter-varsities event. This year it was hosted by NUIG/GMIT Subaqua club. The van was packed exceptionally neatly and colourful with pictures to prove it with the obligatory “I’ll stand here while you take the picture”. Thanks Randall and Craig 🙂

Friday evening was the usual meet up of clubs. Getting to meet allies we hadn’t seen since last years meet up and making new ones. There was the Captains and DO’s briefing on the weekends happenings.

Saturday headed to Rossroe pier in the Killary Fjord. Weather was foggy but sea conditions were perfect for diving!

Craig, Rob, Tadhg and Niall went for 2 dives each while Randall and Cian snorkelled around. There was plenty to see including a wreck only a short fin away from the pier.

Saturday evening we had our social event. Given that this weekend usually takes place on the bank holiday we had the usual Pumpkin carving competition which we won and nobody took any photos!!

Sunday Rob and Niall went for one last dive together and we braved the journey home.

The only exciting thing about our driving journey was trying not to kill the sheep meandering in the middle of the road!

Until next years inter-varsities…
