UCC Win Gold and Silver at IUSA Southerns 2016

October 8th-9th 2016

The first IUSA team racing event of the college year took place this weekend in Carrick-on-Shannon. The event, organised by UCC, saw 26 teams from 7 colleges (UCC, CIT, DIT, UCD, TCD. NUIG and QUB) compete in three fleets. The weekend proved a great success for UCC with all 5 teams competing to a very high standard. UCC1 and UCC2 competed in the Gold fleet which saw a UCC1 versus UCC2 final with UCC1 taking first place. Silver fleet was competed by UCC3 and UCC5. UCC3 managed to get to the semi final but were knocked out at this stage by UCC5, who then went on to win first place. UCC4 found themselves competing in Bronze fleet and after topping the fleet after the round robin stages were very unfortunate to lose the final to CIT3 who they had previously beaten in the earlier stages.

The next event, hosted by Trinity College Dublin will be taking place in a months time in Kilrush, Co. Clare on the 4th/5th of November where UCC will be looking to continue their success.
