UCC set to take on DCU in IV semi-final clash

UCC Cricket Club will make the trip to College Park, Dublin on Wednesday to take on Dublin City University in the last four of the 2015 Trevor West Trophy.

Despite claiming the Intervarsity crown last year, the Cork side will go into this match as slight underdogs, due to the impressive batting form of DCU in recent matches. Richard Forrest who plays his club cricket with Clontarf in Leinster Division 1 will be the main threat to a slightly understrength UCC bowling line-up as Anthony O’Reilly and Sean Power are both unavailable for selection.

However, the defending champions will be hoping that Ireland Universities player and captain Junaid Amin will produce another special performance to make up for the two missing seamers. The skipper will not be short of seam-bowling resources as Qassim Butt, Thomas Raju and Noel Cronin are all included in the squad. In the spin department, Denny David and Kevin O’Sullivan will be hoping for a dry, spin-friendly wicket but as all cricketers know those are particularly hard to come by in an Irish June!
