Cork Con V UCC Temple Hill Friday April 5th at 20.00

The UCC Rugby Team play Cork Con this Friday evening in Temple Hill at 20.00 in a crunch All Ireland League Match in which the College really needs your support.

The Rugby team are for the first time ever competing at the highest possible level of national competition at adult level in the elite division of Ulster Bank All Ireland League. With an average age of less than 21, the UCC team have shown incredible bravery going toe to toe all year with far bigger and fiercely physical opponents. In addition, UCC are considered by most independent observers to be the best team to watch in the league this season.

This is UCC’s penultimate match in the All Ireland League. The Students are currently sitting in 7th place in the 10-team league but with only 4 points separating the last four teams it’s really all to play for. This Friday we play League Leaders and local rivals Cork Con. We ask you to come out and support your University and be our “16th player” Your great support in our last home game against Young Munster’s was hugely significant and was felt by all the players to be a critical factor in their win.

So, let us make a night of it next Friday by following the team down to Temple Hill, wearing your college colours with pride and making your voices heard. The lads have really earned your support, let’s give them the push they need and get them over the line.

Cork Con have kindly agreed to admit students with student cards FREE OF CHARGE into the match.

Note: If you can’t make next Friday night UCC’s last match of the season is against UCD the following Saturday 13 April in the Mardyke at 14.30 in what will be a “must-win” encounter. Again, the team would really welcome your attendance at and vocal support during the game.
