UCC duo reach Everest base camp
UCC Professor of Physiology Ken O’Halloran and PhD Trainee David Burns visited the Himalayan mountain range on a high altitude scientific expedition to Mount Everest Base Camp recently. The work led by Canadian researcher Professor Trevor Day (Mount Royal University, Calgary) set out to examine acclimatisation to high altitude (the process by which the body adapts to low oxygen).
David (on the right) can be seen sporting the black and red of UCC in one of our photos.
What a great achievement by the pair. For the full story see https://www.ucc.ie/en/physiology/news/fullstory-684137-en.html
