UCC Hurlers named in Team of the Year
On securing the Fitzgibbon in successive seasons, UCC Senior Hurlers had 6 players named in the Electric Ireland Higher Education GAA Rising Stars Hurling Team of the Year.
A first Fitzgibbon for Cork GAA’s Robert Downey who excelled and showed his versatility in 5 different positions over the course of the competition for UCC
Limerick County hurler and joint captain for UCC Paddy O’Loughlin anchored the defence for his team and his consistent displays saw him win his second Fitzgibbon medal
Blarney GAA man Mark Coleman became famous for his magnificent winning score from a sideline cut in the semi-final for UCC showing his calmness and skill under pressure
Charleville GAA’s Darragh Fitzgibbon came back from injury to play a commanding part in this year’s competition culminating in a magnificent display in the final earning him his second Fitzgibbon Cup with UCC

2019 Player of the Year and two time Fitzgibbon title winner Shane Conway was instrumental in the final with his nine points, powering UCC to victory. One of the great young talents in the game at present and will be instrumental for Kerryhurling in the coming years.

The 2020 Player of the Year, Douglas GAA’s Shane Kingston had a brilliant campaign, shown through his skill and work rate when on and off the ball. A consistent threat to opposition teams, he scored 4 points in the final earning him a second Fitzgibbon title with UCC
