UCC GAA well represented in Thurles
On a marvellous weekend for all sports, the victory by the Cork senior hurling team in the Munster Final against Clare was particularly pleasing as there was a huge UCC GAA representation in Thurles yesterday.
Out of a panel of 26 for Cork, there were 16 players who have worn the skull and bones jersey over the past number of years. Six current students, Darragh Fitzgibbon (Arts), Shane Kingston (Arts), Sean O’Donoghue (Commerce), David Griffin (Commerce), Mark Coleman (Commerce) and Robbie O’Flynn (EYCS) as well as 10 graduates make up that 26 while graduate Shane O’Donnell was on the Clare team.
Shane Kingston is a current Quercus scholar as was Shane O’Donnell. The captain of the Cork team is Masters graduate Seamus Harnedy who was the RTE Sport Man of the Match.
Cork are now in the All-Ireland semi-final , which will be played on the weekend of July 28/29,
