UCC complete Clean Sweep

Congrats to the UCC soccer club who won the Crowley Cup hosted by DCU over the weekend. The J2/J3 team coached by Liam Corbett started the weekend with a 3-1 victory over NUIM in the Quarter Final. Saturdays semi-final saw the UCC team captained by Jordan Philpot overcome UL in a penalty shoot-out (4-3) after a 1-1 draw (AET). A tense final against Queens was settled in favour of the Skull & Crossbones by an early OG. Goalkeeper Diarmuid Long was named player of the tournament.

The UCC J1 side reached the final of the plate where they were beaten 1-0 by UCD.

UCC were the only club to send 2 teams to the tournament – a testament to the strength of the game in the college at present.

This victory caps a memorable few weeks for the Club. Having won the Harding Cup hosted here in Cork back in February, UCC won the Collingwood Cup in NUIG 2 weeks ago. The season is far from finished however, with the women’s team gearing up for a tilt at their IV while the senior team play Cobh on the 07 April in the EA Sports cup while also attempting to retain their MSL crown.
