Womens Soccer – Training squad announced for CIT fixture
The Development squad are set to play their first game of the season this Thursday away to CIT Ladies soccer.
Head Coach Jamie narrowed down his panel of 45 to a 26 woman training squad ahead of their Thursday’s fixture last week. This year ladies soccer has been inundated with new members this year with over 60 new players registered. A record amount of sign ups and regulars at training for us!
This year the development squad have been pulling out all the stops with their rigorous training schedules. From early morning 7am track conditioning sessions to their late grass training sessions, the ladies simply can’t get enough! Commitment has been incredible and that’s not only a credit to the players but also to Jamie and fitness coach John.
Jamie will be announcing his 16 player squad Tuesday morning and we here are his thoughts about the upcoming game.
“I’m very excited about this years group; last year we were very strong but towards the end of the year injuries took a toll on the squad. Thankfully we have made some very strong additions with this years crop of first years, we have added some great depth to the team and between our strong core built last year and some very talented and enthusiastic new players this season the group looks capable of anything. Personally I can sense a real buzz within the group, the girls are very excited, the commitment to training has been amazing and now we are all just looking forward to kick starting the campaign against CIT! I’m sure it will be a very tough test and a fantastic game of football”
It’s sure to be an absolute cracker of a game, kick off is at 6pm this Thursday at CIT sports grounds! Be sure to get out there to support the girls in what we expect to be a thrilling encounter. #UCCAbú
