Student engagement survey

The Irish Survey of Student Engagement (ISSE) will open on Monday, 23rd February 2015 and all UCC first year and final year undergraduate students, as well as taught postgraduate students, are eligible to complete the survey.  Eligible students will receive an email in their student email account, inviting them to take the survey.  It is a national survey and is sponsored by the HEA, the IUA, the IoTI and the Union of Students in Ireland.  The questionnaire asks students about their experiences of higher education in Ireland.  Responses are confidential and individuals will not be identified.  More on the ISSE can be read on its website.

This is the second year that the national-level ISSE is being held.  Last year, the response rate from UCC students was low.  Increasing the numbers of completed surveys will lead to a richer dataset for UCC.  Your help in encouraging those eligible to complete the survey would be greatly appreciated.  Please bring it to the attention of students in your classes next week and in the weeks up to the closing date of the survey which is 13 March 2015.

Joe Kennedy, UCC Students’ Union Education Officer, explains in this short video the potential importance of this survey as a local change-agent and national policy driver:

For each 100 fully completed surveys, a donation of €100 will be made to student-nominated charities.
