Oranje Hockey put on another impressive show

Ireland upped their performance last night in game 2 of the 2 game pre Olympic series against the Netherlands yesterday but were still comprehensively beaten by the team ranked 2 in the world.

A 5-0 final scoreline is probably unreflective of the game as it was keenly contested throughout. The Dutch had more craft in front of goal and picked Ireland off while keeping the home team scoreless despite a number of short corners.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable series which was well supported by the Cork public. Around 3,000 people turned out to see the 2 games.

Thanks to all the people who made these games happen – in particular to the many volunteers who worked tirelessly over the last 10 days.

Good luck to both teams as they head off to Rio in a few weeks time.
