UCC Rugby Club is well represented in the extended Club Ireland Squad for the upcoming International Rugby Series. UCC’s James Taylor, Peter Sylvester, Matthew Bowen & Ryan Murphy making the initial training squad.
In the Munster Senior Clubs League Division 1: UCC were beaten 12 : 45 by Shannon
UCC seniors ere beaten 1 : 2 by Ringmahon Rangers in their first Munster Senior League match of 2020
UCC Glanmire defeated IT Carlow 91-50 in their Women’s Superleague match at the weekend
UCC hurlers defeated Cork 2.18 : 1.20 in the Canon O Brien Cup played at the Mardyke last night. It was a good tough physical game to set them up for their Fitzgibbon Cup opener against NUIG in Galway on Sunday at 2pm.
UCC footballers also play NUIG in their Sigerson Cup opener, also in Galway on Sunday at 4pm.
Congratulations to Quercus Sports Scholar Hannah Humphries who has been selected on the Irish Senior Women’s Indoor Hockey team for the upcoming European Championships which will be held in Bratislava. She makes her senior debut at the indoors where Ireland will compete in Division 111 as the Irish team have not competed in the indoor competition for several years.
HER Sports Awards:
UCC students are well represented in the “Team of the Year” shortlist for the Annual HER Sports Awards
The Irish Ultimate Frisbee team – European Champions, The Irish U20 Basketball Team – bronze medallists at the European U20 championships,& The Irish U23 Rowing Team – silver medallists at the World U23 Championships are all shortlisted & UCC students were part of all these 3 great team successes.
