Ladies Soccer Lace Up for a Cure!
This week both our ladies soccer teams began their efforts for UCC’s ‘Raise and Give’ week. Each year our club chooses a charity that is decided by both our players and Soccer Committee. This year we’re delighted to announce that we will be focusing all our fundraising efforts towards Breast Cancer awareness and are proud to be supporting Breast Cancer Ireland.
The #LaceUpForTheCure campaign, which officially launched last year, was a simple yet fantastic concept which was started by Peamount United defender and former Ireland international Susan Byrne who lost her mother Philomena to breast cancer in April of 2013. Breast Cancer Ireland is a charity that would be close to the hearts of many of our soccer players.
As last Wednesday was World Cancer Day we ceased the opportunity to start our lace up for a cure campaign. Both our Premier and Development squads were in action in away fixtures travelling to both DIT and NUI Maynooth.
Our Club will be selling laces at a cost of €5 with all proceeds being donated to Breast Cancer Ireland. There are also many other ways that you can get in touch or learn more about the fantastic work that Breast Cancer Ireland do. Check out https://breastcancerireland.com/about-us/ for more information. Also you can make a small donation just by simply texting “CURE” to 50300.
