Impressive UCC cruise past Hurricanes
UCC recorded their second consecutive victory in the 2015 Canterbury Cork T20 Cup at Farmers Cross on Friday evening. Having lost the toss, opening bowlers Kevin O’Sullivan and Kaleem Ahmad set about the task of restricting the young Harlequins side to a manageable total. Three maidens in a row, two from off-spinner O’Sullivan and one from Ahmad set the tone for the rest of the innings with a tight line and length evident throughout. The Hurricanes young guns found it tough to score against such disciplined bowling and finished up on 71-6 from their allocation.
With UCC very much in the box-seat at the interval it was left to the batsman to see the visitors through to victory. Despite losing a wicket in the tenth over, the target score of 72 was soon reached for an impressive 9 wicket victory and a second successive triumph in the round-robin stage of the competition.
