First Intervarsity Competiton of the Year – DKIT

On Saturday 11th November UCC Archery Club traveled to DKIT for the first intervarsity of the year.  A full mini-bus of 14 archers, both beginner and experienced alike made the trip to Dundalk representing the club.
The competition was tough between colleges, not making it an easy fight for the top rank!
Out of 18 colleges, UCC came 4th with a cumulative team score of 1911 points.
Individually, our shooters made great strides, with our first year rep, Emma Daly scoring 478 and coming first in Intermediate Female recurve category.
Our captain, Carla Reinhardt set a new personal best of 457 and came 3rd in the same category.
Over on the boys side, our Treasurer Cormac O’Callaghan got an admirable score of 484, coming 2nd in Male Intermediate Recurve, with Brendan O’Sullivan trailing close behind in 3rd place with 483.
In regards to the Barebow category, while once uncommon in the club, it has caught on, with each competition drawing more and more club members into testing their skills in this shooting style, they are just as determined as the recurve shooters (if not, more) to represent the club on an intervarsity level.
All in all, the competition was a great success – If its anything to go by, this year, the club will continue to bring home the medals!
