Donal Crowely memorial Blarney

Cillian (secretary) and Denis (Treasurer) both raced the Donal Crowely memorial race in Blarney, Cork on Sunday the 15th of March. Here is Cillian’s report from the day.

“A Tough 80km race with almost 800 meters of Climbing . Two UCC riders were racing the A4 cat race Cillian Kenneally (me) and Denis Keohane . Denis was competing in his first ever race done extremely well to finish the race just off the main bunch on a day when only half the bunch finished . The course was a 40km circuit which basically climbed gradually for 20 km and downhill for the remainder 20km .I tried to get away in a breakaway on the first lap but the group chased us down . The second lap was much faster and before long half the group had been dropped . There was lost of attacking and chasing and no break seemed to stick . But eventually a break went and no one seemed to chase . But I waited too long yo jump across and when I tried I was chased down straight away so I had to settle for sprinting for the minor places. In the end I came home 7/8th I’m not sure which. But overall I’m happy with my result :)Again a special mention to Denis on completing his first ever race many more to come :)Well done Next race Carrick On Suir St Patrick’s Day !!”
