Cork & Waterford – The UCC Connection.
On Sunday June 7th in Semple Stadium Thurles, Cork play Waterford in the Munster Senior hurling championship semi-final. The winners of this game will play either Tipperary or Limerick in the Munster Final on July 12th.
Once again there is a huge connection between UCC and the competing Cork and Waterford teams in that 30 of the players have represented the University at either Fitzgibbon or Fresher level with the majority having played both.

Shane Roche (Commerce),Padraig Prendergast (Arts), Tadgh Burke (Arts), Jamie Barron (Arts), DJ Foran (Arts), Tom Devine (Medicine), Mark O’Brien (Arts) and Patrick Curran (Commerce)
Graduates and former players are Anthony Nash, Shane O’Neill, Dan Kearney, William Kearney,Darren McCarthy, Seamus Harnedy, Brian Lawton, Pa Cronin, Stephen Moylan, Luke O’Farrell, Jamie Coughlan (Cork) while Waterford provide Shane O’Sullivan, Barry Coughlan, Philip Mahony, Pauric Mahony and Kevin Moran.
Waterford manager Derek McGrath and Cork selector Sean McGrath won a Fitzgibbon Cup with UCC in 1997 on a Paul O’Connor coached team that included Joe Deane, John Browne and Eddie Enright amongst others.
