Continued success for UCC sports athletes during the summer

Congratulations to the 16 UCC students & graduates who were part of the Cork hurling success at Semple Stadium last Sunday. Commiserations to UCC graduate Shane O Donnell who was part of the defeated Clare team.

Congratulations to UCC Graduate Seamus Harnedy on being awarded “Man of the Match”


Congratulation’s to UCC Graduate Adrian O Sullivan on being part of the Senior Men’s Irish team who won a bronze medal at the Small Nations European Championships in San Marino last weekend.

Adrian has also agreed a professional contract with reading Rockets in the British basketball League for the coming season

Commiserations to UCC graduates Claire Rockall, Aine McKenna & Stephanie O Shea who were part of the Irish Senior women’s team who competed in the Small Nations European Championships held in the Mardyke Arena. They finished 6th in the competition.


At the recent Cork Regatta UCC performed extremely well:

Men’s Senior 4x: UCC 1st in a composite crew – UCC student Andrew Goff was the UCC representative in this crew

Men’s Senior 2-: UCC 1st place with Stephen Murphy & Kieran White

Men’s Lightweight 1x: UCC 1st place – Hugh Sutton

Men’s Club2 4+: UCC 1st place – Darragh Larkin, Cathal Cummins, David Breen, Peter Michael O Callaghan, & cox Cormac O Connell


At the Fermoy Regatta: UCC won the men’s Novice skull & there was also a great performance by the Women’s Novice Pair


Another busy week at the Mardyke with:

The Irish Senior Women’s Hockey team in Cork & they will play a series of matches against Japan at the Mardyke.

The first match is scheduled for Wednesday 4th July at 7.00pm followed by:

Friday 6th July: Ireland v Japan at 7.00pm

Saturday 7th July: Ireland v Japan at 5.00pm
