Big week ahead for UCC GAA

UCC GAA club head into the biggest week of the year with all four codes in action this week.  Monday evening UCC overcame local rivals UCC in the Intermediate Football Championship with a 2-09 to 2-06 score line.  On Wednesday, UCC Fresher Footballer and the Ladies Senior Footballers, head to Dublin as they both go head to head with DCU.   For the Ladies, it’s their much anticipated first round of the O’Connor Cup against defending champions DCU.

Also, on Wednesday evening at 7pm, the Mardyke Sports Grounds will be a hive of activity as the Senior Footballers welcome IT Carlow for the Sigerson Cup quarter finals.  Thursday evening also a 7pm throw in will be the turn of the Senior Hurlers to welcome IT Carlow for the Fitzgibbon Cup quarter finals.

GAA Development Officer John Grainger is looking forward to hosting both quarter finals in the Mardyke.  “There’s always great pride and something special about playing in the Mardyke. So much history and tradition over the years.   We home the UCC community will come out and support the both the footballers and hurlers on Wednesday and Thursday evening”.   Finally at the weekend, UCC Senior Camogie team, head to Mallow for their Ashbourne Semi Final game against Waterford IT, with the winner facing UL or DCU in the Final on Sunday.
