KICKBOXING:
Pride of place this morning goes to Lily De La Cour who was crowned World Champion in the Senior Women’s 50kg category ay the WAKO World Championships held in Dublin
Deirdre Begley was beaten quarter finalist in her category
RUGBY:
UCC defeated Corinthians, Galway in the AIL on a scoreline of 31: 7
SOCCER:
UCC seniors were defeated in the 3rd round of the FAI Intermediate Cup in Dublin by Bluebell Utd 3:0
In the City Challenge Cup UCC”B” were beaten 1 : 3 by Grattan Utd “B”
UCC Utd (staff soccer team) were 2:0 winners over Bunratty Utd in the 2nd round of the Munster Junior Cup
HOCKEY:
UCC senior ladies were beaten 3:0 by Loreto in the Irish Senior Cup
UCC senior men’s were beaten 1:6 by Monkstown in the Irish Senior Cup
UCC is well represented on the Munster U21 women’s squad with 11 players for th eupcoming U21 interprovincial series
ATHLETICS:
UCC first year student Phoebe Murphy was awarded “Irish schools Girl Athlete of the Year” at the National athletics Awards.
UCC graduate Brian Murphy was chosen for this years “Inspirational Performance Award” at the National Athletics Awards recently. Brian hopes to be part of the Irish relay squad for the Rio Olympics next year
ALUMNUS AWARD:
UCC Soccer Club President John MacCarthy was awarded a UCC Alumni Achievement Award for his voluntary contribution to the Student Experience
IRISH STAR SPORTS AWARDS:
Eamonn Ryan, UCC Graduate & former UCC GAA Development Officer was awarded Personality of the Year at the irish Star Sports Awards at the weekend. Eamonn received the award in recognition of his achievements with the Cork ladies Gaelic Footballers
