Weekend Report.

CAMOGIE:
UCC defeated WIT to qualify for the Ashbourne Cup semi-final which will take place this weekend. NUIG are the hosts.

UCC play Mary I at 4.45pm in Ballyhaunis on Saturday in the semi-final.

 

BASKETBALL:

UCC ladies defeated WIT on a scoreline of 76-68 last week. They play CIT this week and victory will see them into the league semi-final.

UCC Demons defeated DCU Saints 102:73 at the Mardyke and are now top of the league.

 

GAELIC FOOTBALL:
UCC defeated GMIT to qualify for the quarter finals of the Sigerson Cup. They play competition favourites UCD in the Mardyke on Thursday at 2.30pm.

3 UCC students: Adrian, Cillian & Pat Spillane helped their home club Templenoe win the All Ireland Junior Club title at the weekend

 

HURLING:
UCC defeated Maynooth 4:18 – 0:10 in their second Fitzgibbon Cup match last week. They now play LIT tomorrow in the Mardyke in a must win game for the team if they are to qualify for the knock out stages of the competition.

UCC defeated WIT in the quarter final of the intermediate championship on a scoreline of 1:12 – 1:09.

 

CRICKET:
UCC were unsuccessful in their quest to win back the indoor cricket intervarsity title – they have been announced as the hosts for this years outdoor IV competition which begins on the 01 June.

 

ATHLETICS:
UCC student & HPAE Sports Scholarship holder Phil Healy won the National Indoor U23 60m title with a PB of 7.35 on Saturday in Athlone. This is just off the world indoor standard of 7.32. The time of 7.35 is also a new Irish U23 record.

Then Sunday she competed in the AAI games, winning the 200m in a time of 23.74, which was another PB.

 

HOCKEY:
EYL: UCC ladies were defeated in Dublin by railway Union 1:2

In the Munster Senior League: UCC men were beaten 0:3 by Bandon in a top of the table clash

 

SOCCER:
UCC soccer were unsuccessful with their bid to retain the Harding Cup – the fresher intervarsity held in Galway at the weekend.

UCC seniors defeated Glasheen in the Beamish Stout Cup aet 2:2

UCC (A) were beaten 2:3 by Casement in the Junior Super Cup again aet

In the Cork AUL 1A: UCC beat Strand Utd 2:1

 

UCC Utd (UCC staff team) defeated South Westerns 3:1 in their cup match at the weekend

 

RACQUETBALL:
UCC’s Aisling Hickey won the Women’s Open Singles title

 

RUGBY:
UCC seniors were beaten by Cashel 13:18 on Saturday in their AIL Div 2A match

UCC U20’s defeated UL Bohs 52:0 in the Dave Walsh Div One Trophy on Saturday
