UCC Staff Athletic club gear up for Annual Road Race

It’s not just the students that are active in UCC Clubs.  UCC Staff Athletics club which was founded in 1982 is a registered member of the Business Houses Athletic Association. The aim of the club is to encourage physical and social wellbeing, so that staff can reach their full fitness potential, while enjoying the fun and social elements of training with club members and also taking part in Cork BHAA races.

Their moto being “It’s not the steps you take, but the friends that you make that makes running an aspiration and enjoyable for everyone.”

UCC Staff Athletic Club will hold our Annual Road Race for the 37th successive year on Sunday, 31st March 2019 starting at 10.30am sharp. The race is in memory and a tribute to our former colleague and club member Carmel Lynch who sadly passed away a number of years ago.

The race will be held over a 10 Km distance on the Lee Road/Straight Road circuit. Starting at Mardyke walk, heading out the Lee road, coming back in the Carrigrohane Straight to the finish line at the Lee Fields, near the Kingsley Hotel.

The event is run under the rules of the Business Houses Athletic Association and is open to all firms and businesses registered with the BHAA. Non-members and Fun-runners are also welcome to complete in the event. Last year we had 500 runners participate in the event.

Race Entries from 9.00am to 10.15am. It promises to be a great event and UCC Staff AC looks forward to seeing everyone there on the day. If you would like more information about the race or sponsoring an event please contact Club secretary Gerard Mannix at g.mannix@ucc.ie
