UCC Soccer – another huge win as they take out Wexford Youths!

It’s not an exaggeration to state that UCC achieved one of its most significant wins in the Clubs long history last night. It was the first time the college have beaten a League of Ireland team in a competitive fixture. To do it away from home (in Wexford) in the EA Sports Cup is even more impressive considering the schedule of matches this group of players has faced since the turn of the new year. UCC lead 2-0 at half-time through 2 Ian Mylod strikes. Wexford did manage to pull one back in the second half but could not force an equaliser against a well-disciplined student outfit. This result qualifies the team for a regional semi-final against Cork City, Cobh Ramblers or Waterford United. These games will be played the weekend of the 6/7 April.

Congratulations as well to UCC scholarship student Seanie “Spud” O’Callaghan and Jason Abbott on their recent call ups to the Irish Amateur Team who face Poland in 2 upcoming friendlies fixed for Cork and Galway.
