Another action packed week in the Dept. of Sport & Physical Activity with many clubs in action.

LADIES GAELIC FOOTBALL:
Congratulations to UCC’s Marie Ambrose on being selected on the Ladies HEC O’ Connor Cup All Star team for 2018

HOCKEY:
Congratulations to UCC ladies hockey club players Jenny Clein & Hannah Humphries on being selected on the Irish U21 squad for the upcoming challenge series against the USA
Congratulations to UCC ladies hockey club players Kate Murphy & Saoirse O Leary on being selected on the Irish Universities squad to play Scotland in Belfast in April
Congratulations to UCC men’s hockey club players Eoin Colin Kingston, & Brian on being selected on the Irish Universities squad to play Scotland in Belfast in April
UCC senior ladies won the Munster Senior Cup Plate on St Patricks Day defeating Ballincollig 5-1 in the final.
UCC “B” were beaten 0-2 by Ashton in their Division 3 match at the weekend

VOLLEYBALL:
Congratulations to UCC volleyball club who were crowned SSI men’s & ladies league champions on Wednesday night following the league finals which were played in Maynooth. The men’s team defeated UCD in their final while the ladies defeated RCSI

ATHLETICS:
UCC women’s team finished 2nd in the intervarsity cross country held in Santry last weekend, while UCC men’s team finished in 6th place

GAA:
UCC senior footballers defeated Carbery 1-16 : 2.12 in the Cork County Senior Football Championship last night
UCC Junior Hurlers were crowned All Ireland Champions having defeated UCD in the final on a scoreline of UCC 1-13 : 0-11 UCD

SOCCER:
Congratulations to UCC soccer player Sean McLoughlin on being awarded the FAI International Colleges & Universities Player of the year at the FAI Awards at the weekend.
He followed this with a “man of the match” performance for Cork City in the Airtricity League on Monday. Sean joined Cork City following an outstanding season with UCC last year.
UCC seniors are into the Donie Forde Cup final following a 2-0 victory over Ballincollig Utd in the semi-final

RUGBY:
Congratulations to former UCC Rugby club player & UCC Graduate John Ryan on being part of the Irish rugby teams Grand Slam success at the weekend

Squash:
UCC Squash won the Munster League Division 1 Title on Monday. The players were Philip McSweeney, Paul O’ Mahony, Barry Lynch, Donagh Crowley and Karl McLoughney.
