Preparations in full swing as the world champions arrive at the Mardyke

In advance of next weeks 2 test series with Ireland, World Hockey Champions Netherlands arrive in Cork today. The team will train in the Mardyke today as the venue is getting the finishing touches before the opening match on Monday night at 7pm.

The famous UCC venue has hosted many high profile events over the years including Rugby and Soccer internationals, County finals as well as the Cork City Sports when at their peak during the 1980s attracted huge crowds and multiple Olympic Champions like Youri Sedykh and Sebastian Coe.

Next week will see the first Senior Hockey international hosted here. Click here to see the preparations ongoing at the ground to cater for the large crowd expected for the game.
