Last week Our manager Paul Dunton announced his squad that will be travelling for the tournament:

6. Amy O Connor
7. Emer Gilroy
8. Michelle Hurst
9. Shayna Henry
10. Elly Stritch
11. Chloe Aherne
12. Lydia Looney

Here’s what our Strength and Conditioning coach John Corkery had to say ahead of this week’s finals:

“With this being my second year involved in the UCC set up in am glad to see that the club is growing on a whole and women’s soccer is also getting bigger by the day. After a bit of a turbulent start to the season with injuries and players away, we’re slowly beginning to get those players back and up to full fitness. Before we split for the winter break we began gaining momentum and am looking forward to getting back in a few weeks and carrying that momentum well into 2017 and show that the college is good enough to challenge for silverware on all fronts! Both league and varsities will be interesting as the competition seems to be tougher also this year in comparison to last year but I know that if the girls apply the attitude they do in training to the games they will play then they will reap the benefits and the fruits of there labour”

We also spoke with our head training coach Blaine Walsh ahead of this week’s finals:

“After getting off to a difficult start to the season due to injuries to key players and introducing new players straight into the first team, I’ve been delighted with the hard work, commitment and attitude from all of the ladies this season. The team have worked hard on the training field and have really bought into our philosophy and this can be seen in the latter stages of the season. It’s great to see such a great team bond and I’m excited to see what these talent players can achieve this season. We look forward to challenging for the league title and intervarsity title.”
