FURTHER SPORTS UPDATE FROM UCC SPORTS CLUBS

RUGBY:
UCC U20’s defeated UCD in the Fraser McMullen All-Ireland U.20 Cup in the Mardyke on Saturday & have now qualified for the semi-finals. Final score UCC 40 – 25 UCD

 

CRICKET:
Last Saturday UCC defeated IT Carlow in the first round of the outdoor intervarsities. The score was as follows:

ITC 164 all out in 39 overs

UCC 165-1 in 31.2 overs

 

UCC winning the game by 9 wickets with 52 balls in hand.

UCC will now be playing TUD in Dublin in the quarter finals, time TBD

 

ARCHERY:

UCC competed at the NUIG IV finals which was broken into two competitions: the qualifiers and the head to heads.

 

For the qualifiers :

Cara Garde took first place in advanced recurve women.

Dāvis Rusmanis took second place in the advanced barebow men category.

 

For the head to head knock outs :

Cara Garde took second place for recurve women.

Dāvis Rusmanis took second place for barebow men.

 

In the overall IV league scores across the entire season Cara Garde took second place in the advanced female recurve category.

 

VOLLEYBALL:

UCC men’s & women’s teams continued their successful year by winning the Munster Cup in both grades in Cork at the weekend

 

GAELIC FOOTBALL:
UCC defeated Muskerry in the 2nd round of the Cork Senior County Championship last week. On a scoreline of UCC 2.18 : 1.11 Muskerry

 

WOMEN’S SOCCER:

UCC’s Ciara McNamara will receive the Northside Sports Star Award for the month of March at a luncheon at the Commons Hotel this afternoon. Ciara receives the award in recognition of her performances for UCC in their recent Kelly Cup (Intervarsity) success.
