Darragh McCarthy Memorial Road Race

Cillian Kenneally (club secretary) raced the Darragh McCarthy Memorial Road Race in Bradford, Limerick today (1/03). Here is his account of the day.

“Darragh McCarthy Memorial Road Race in Bradford Limerick. A very tough 20km circuit with a long 2km climb with some steep ramps . I was competing in the A4 event which would do 3 laps a total of 60km . The first lap was a fast pace with lots of attacks before and during the climb . I stayed towards the front as best I could and stayed in the front from group for the first two laps until the third time up the climb when the race was blown apart. I pushed on and got over the climb and came into the finish in the second group on the road . I finished around 15th place which I happy with as there 100 strong field on the first lap . Next up Ras Lumini in Limerick next weekend . Where our UCC gear will make its first appearance”
