Clubs Exec AGM 2017
Last Wednesday, the 29th of March 2017, Clubs’ Executive organised the AGM. Michael Hanrahan, the outgoing UCC Clubs Executive’s President, addressed the clubs for the last time. Four clubs were presented with the remaining award. A new committee for 2017/18 was elected.
The past year was fantastic, see yourself!
We’ve been more active than ever, on and off the field of play, especially when it came to on campus events – Captain’s Training, Health Matters’ Day, every Orientation, Failte Fest and Clubs Day to Clubs Day 2, Raise and Give Week and the Recent Clubs and Societies Ball. Thanks to the superb organisation and running of your clubs, we’ve had better promotion of clubs this year; there are more students involved in clubs this year than ever before; we embraced a lot of first years into our clubs and must continue to do so to protect their future! And Charity… This year as you know, we supported Cork University Hospital: Children’s Charity. So many of clubs have fundraised for this great cause. All of the money raised will go towards funding the new Children’s Unit, to help CUH become a centre of excellence for many children who need expert medical and surgical care. We are excited for the time when we will get to announce the final figure which was raised by all of you! A wrap up by Michael:
I want to reiterate my thanks and gratitude to you the club members, the clubs executive, and the Dept. of Sport and Physical Activity. We’ve done a lot this year. I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved together. I know that there is a lot more to be done. It’s been a life changing year for me personally, I wish I could do it again, but unfortunately I must return to my studies. You have all been such a pleasure to work with. And it has been my honour to your president.
We are grateful to the outgoing committee for the work they have put in during 2016/17 and wish all the best to those leaving the committee in their future endeavours!
