100 Senior Caps for former UCC great.

Just a quick note on the recent achievements of one of UCC Alumni – Aine Connery.

Aine is currently on tour with the Irish Womens Hockey team in the World League competition taking place in Valencia, Spain.

During this tour Aine made her 100th appearance for the national senior team and scored the winning goal in a 3-2 defeat of Uruguay which qualified the team for the quarter final of the competition. Ireland now must win their Quarter final to qualify for next year’s Olympic Games in Rio.

To reach the 100 cap milestone is a huge achievement for teacher Aine. She also now has a real chance of realising her career ambition of playing at the Olympics.

Aine who also played in last years all-Ireland Camoige final with Kilkenny has always attributed a large portion of her success as an international star to her time in UCC where she played for 4 years.

Aine is a niece of the great Eamon Ryan who is still going strong as coach to the Cork ladies football team.

She is featured in the middle of our photo when playing for Ireland in Buenos Aries last year.
